  • Sibley Lecture / MERIT Rounds - Anti-racism in Health Professional Education (Dr. Marcia Anderson)

    In order to address the pervasive anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism in health care, anti-racist health professional education is a necessary step. This includes ensuring a learning environment that is safe for Black and Indigenous learners, a hidden curriculum that does not undermine formal curriculum elements, consideration of the workforce, and appropriate accountability mechanisms.

  • MERIT Rounds - Defining the Future of Patient-Focused Assessment (Dr. Dan Schumacher)

    This presentation will discuss literature that illuminates the seemingly common experience of training outcomes not preparing graduates to be able to provide the care than patients need and deserve. With this foundation, patient-focused approaches to assessment will be argued as a way forward, positing that the future of high quality care depends on better physician performance assessment.
